Effective Leadership Skills and Qualities

Is it easy to lead employees? Leadership is not an easy task, and it is not a natural ability existed in all people that good leaders are made not naturally born with this ability. Person can become a good leader if he/she has a strong desire to be so. Leadership is gained by endless operations of self-study, training, experience, and education. The criteria which person must follow to inspire his workers through high levels of teamwork must be well understood and implemented in the right way. Leadership is not an instant ability that person can get immediately, but it depends on the continual work and study to improve leadership skills. 


Definition of Leadership:

Leadership is one of the effective methods to affect and influence other people. Hence, leadership is defined as the influence of a person on other people to pull of an objective and manage an organization to be more productive and coherent. 


Importance of Having a Good Leader:

Some people cannot perform their tasks without the existence of good leadership, they need leader who can manage the work process and direct them to perform their duties. Leadership is defined as taking responsibility, and this is not easy. It requires a great effort and constant challenge to achieve success through different strategies. This will need to be aware of the importance of trust as an essence of leadership, the desire to led, and leadership personality and traits. The main skills of leaders should include the trust and confidence; influence other people and the effective character.


Trust & Confidence:

Trust and confidence are the main essential leadership skills. Leaders of other people should be trustful and honorable so that the other teams’ members discover and reveal their own secrets without any problem of risk. The trust characteristic plays an important role in order to strengthen the effective relationships and respects among members of the teamwork so that they can develop and upgrade the performance of the organizations. The trust and confidence among leaders and employees in the companies can lead to a good successful work environment and progress. 

Employees, managers and other subordinate workers should trust the organization. During the difficult and complex tasks and situations in the organizations, the good leaders shall do their best to gain the trust and confidence of the employees via the high productivity and performance. The good leaders should exert the best efforts to achieve the organizational equity among the employees. The employees should be equally treated in relation to the reward distribution and performance evaluation especially in the organization. Messer & White noted that the good leader should foster workplace equity. In other words, he can achieve the trust and confidence through focusing on the characters and competence of leaders especially during the difficult occasions. 

Moreover, the successful leaders inspire other team members to have a good performance. The credibility plays a significant role to make the employees feel confident toward their leaders. Inspiration and honor help a leader achieve the credibility. It is worth mentioning that the role of the good leader is to have a better influence and effect on other followers. Thus, employees of any organization shall feel confident and trust toward their leaders.


Ability of Influencing Others:

A leader should influence and lead other subordinate employees in the organization. She should be ready to take the responsibility. A leader should have the desire to lead because leadership needs the individual to have high level of physical, mental, and emotional vitality in order to be able to take the responsibility and perform his job’s duties with high quality performance. This is because if a leader already has the desire to lead others, he will be enthusiastic and have the required energy and ambition manage his work by the employees who he leads and increase their commitment to the work’s responsibilities. 

It is notable that creating the right decision is an important aspect which works effectively in motivating the employees to perform and accomplish particular tasks fully enthusiastic. Moreover, leaders can achieve these characteristics by applying the training objectives. In other words, the successful leader works as facilitator in order to implement different goals and strategies of the company. The successful leader encourages other employees in order to do their tasks and jobs effectively. The sufficient experience and knowledge of leaders help them effectively to influence other people in the organization. 

Moreover, the successful leaders should encourage the employees participate in decision making process so that they cooperate and integrate to develop organization. Some managers inspire followers to transcend their own self-interests for the good of the organization and have a profound and extraordinary effect on their followers. However, leadership critically examines that status quo with a view to develop and articulating future strategic goals or vision for the organization and then leading organizational members to achieve these goals through empowering strategies. Thus, the good leader shall play an important role to develop and improve other people. The good leader shall influence other people.


Having Effective Characteristics:

The good leaders should have an effective character. The successful leaders should have some crucial characteristics that enable them to achieve the strategy of organization. One of them is that a leader should set with each one of his group separately in order to ensure that they are aware of their responsibilities and the importance of their job. A leader also must involve his followers with the work problems in order to increase the responsibility and motivate them to work hard in order to solve these problems. This refers that the followers shall be encouraged the good leaders in order to participate in the decision making facility. A leader may work with people who he didn't see them before, so he must first learn about their characteristics and recognize their needs and understand what motivates them, and to do so, a leader must understand him first. 

A leader must be able to evaluate his followers continuously to assess the general status of the work which he is responsible for. Leadership's main technique is to achieve consensus on a common aim which remove any disputes of conflicts within the organization. Good leader must be aware of not only the physical resources, but also the followers' skills, attitudes, experiences, and background, a leader then becomes able to distribute the tasks wisely according to their skills and abilities which serve the whole work. This refers that the good leaders should be aware of the abilities and the experiences of other followers so that he/she can guide them effectively. Thus, the good leader shall have a good charisma and character to guide people.

In conclusion, leadership is a characteristic to have confidence, influence and character to lead other employees. It is considered the backbone of any organization whether business organization, social organization, or even within the family. The importance of leadership lies in the need for direction and knowledge. A leader must have some features and characteristics which qualify him to be a good leader in addition to the skill which he must learn during his work hours, because the skills and the experiences are gained through the work in addition to the personal characteristics of leaders. Leadership is one of the difficult positions in our life. Leaders shall require a lot of skills and knowledge about different things in the organization. Leaders shall do their best to overcome the main challenges in the organization. The effective leadership plays an important role in order to develop and improve the efficiency of the company to do more activities. The company can improve and develop its businesses through the use of leadership skills.
